Laika ("Barker") the dog was the first animal recorded to have been launched into space aboard the Russian spacecraft Sputnik 2 in November 1957.
She did not survive.

In the Wild LIVE event planned for May 2008, a theatrical performance by students of Newquay College will tell the imaginative story of Laika's spiritual return to Earth 50 years later where she discovers a world plunging headlong into environmental catastrophe.

There will also be live music, featured student artwork, refreshments and much more!
